Do you remember producer Willie Green? Well he has teamed with emcee Premrock to release the self-titled album, Premrock & Willie Green on September 28, 2011on Isolated Wax Records. In an effort to promote their record they are going on tour in the U.S. in September and then International in October. You can help them fund their tour while getting dope music in return on their Kickstarter page. You can give as little as $1 dollar or more to receive bonuses. The one I chose was the $20 pledge which included:

Digital copy of new album: “PremRock & Willie Green,” signed hard copy of PremRock’s “the build” and digital copy of Willie Green’s “Dirty Jordans.” Email updates from the tour.

So basically I get three albums from their respective catalogs and help them put on a show for fans around the world that sounds like a win for everyone. So if you want to support them hit up their Kickstarter page for more options. Also to let you hear what is on the new album they have released this single with C-Rayz Walz, Soul Khan and DJ Addikt called, “Had to Be Me“.

Coming back from another country and already back to my old ways. We attended The Peanut Butter & Jelly Party 2009 at the Loft on April 19. I found out about the event from Last.fm/Events and just had to go because it is rare to have Hip-Hop in Nashville, Tennesse. So here is my review on the event through photos.

This is the first thing I saw walking into the event. Also Syntax Records hosted the concert with most of the roster performing are on.

All the way to the top. These flyer arrows helped point us in the right direction.

We arrived late so only got to see the last song performed by Scribbling Idiots but they were still getting the crowd crazy.

The lighting behind Scribbling Idiots enhances the show but they could do that with their energy alone.

DJ Promote on the wheels of steel, putting in work for intermissions and performers.

How could it be a “Peanut Butter & Jelly Party” without the peanut butter and jelly, right. They served it all night with free milk and Rockstar energy drinks for backup.

Odd Thomas takes the stage…

…and murders his set.

Propaganda has the crowd start with their hands in the air.

Propaganda performance is so hype that the crowd keeps them up.

Kaboose grabs the mic and begins to make the crowd move.

Kaboose brings Royce 5’9″ with him but on screen in the same style as his album cover.

Braille gets into his performance and makes the crowd follow.

Braille and Theory Hazit join forces to elevate the mood.

RedCloud delivers a stunning presentation with freestyles to spare.

RedCloud and Kaboose compare mohawks.

Overall the event was impressive and found some new artist to add to the music library. Here is the some of the free swag that was given away at the show and that’s it.

A3C Hip-Hop Festival 2008 is an annual showcase of incredible emcees. This year is no exception with the artists set to perform read as a wet dream of any hip-hop music lover. The biggest news is that the Juice Crew has just been added for a one day performance. If you don’t realize why this is such an historical event then here is a short lesson courtesy of AC3:

From AC3 Hip-Hop Festival: “I don’t care who first or who’s last but all I know is that y’all better rock this at the drop of a dime, baby!” If you know you’re history, you’ll know that these are the opening words to one of the most prolific songs in all of Hip Hop history; The Juice Crew’s “The Symphony.” It’s been roughly 10 years since the original Juice Crew last performed together, but in a mere matter of weeks at the A3C, you’ll be able to witness history in the making as Biz Markie, Big Daddy Kane, Marley Marl, MC Shan, Craig G and Roxanne Shante reunite to perform some of the songs which steered the course of Hip Hop music as we know it today.

Tha Alkaholiks have answered their question and have come out of retirement to do the Rehab Tour. It should not be a surprise that Ecliptic Sight is excited for this one because it was sad to see the group retire so early with their last album Firewater. They were also on the Top 10 CDs From The 1990s list that was compiled here. It took two years but it will be worth the wait. Seeing Tha Alkaholiks in concert is definitely a treat and they have one of the best live shows. If you love that likwit sound or you want to see a hype show definitely find a venue near you.

The 2006 MTV Movie Awards Preview (No Spoilers)
I received my tickets to go to the MTV Movie Awards through Gnarls Barkley. How you might ask? Well I was at the Gnarls Barkley sight and saw that they had a MySpace sight also (like everyone else in the universe) so I clicked the link. In their MySpace blog it had info of being in the pit audience for the MTV Movie Awards. So I filled out the info and in a couple of days got the tickets. Anyone going to the awards next year and want to be in the pit, I suggest to wear comfortable shoes because I had to stand from 3:30 pm through 10:30 pm.

Jessica Alba was hosting the show this year and I think she did a good job. I have really not seen her do much comedy but some of her skits and lines were pretty funny. The second thing that stood out about Alba was how skinny she looks in person and for that matter most of the female celebrities. The pairing of some of the presenters lead to some funny moments because of the different personalities. One moment that comes to mind was Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx the stars of the upcoming Miami Vice because being in the pit I could actually see the teleprompter and Jamie Foxx was not reading a word from it. Colin Farrell was trying to stay with it but Jamie Foxx kept going off and it was hilarious. Another moment came from Ludacris and Rosario Dawson and what Ludacris says right before they open the envelope. Samuel L. Jackson came out by himself and was just as cool as ever. Most of the winners and presenters were in top form and had me laughing at celebrities that I did not think were comical before.

There were three musical performers at the MTV Movie Awards: Christina Aguliera, Gnarls Barkley and AFI. Christina Aguliera’s set was less pop than ever before and I will give her credit to her peformance, dancers and band really put in work. Did this make me a Christina Aguliera fan? No but it was entertaining. Gnarls Barkley was the artists that I came to see and they did not disappoint. Their set was a spacey fantasy (you will know what I mean when you see the show) and had everyone clapping and dancing. Try to figure out which one is Danger Mouse when you see the show. Cee-lo sounds as good as he sounds on record if not better. Gnarls Barley was definitely a highlight of the show for me. I have to admit that I did not know who AFI was going into the show but they had a lot of fans there. The people in the pit even had to make a costume change for their performance. AFI made their presence known by putting in a lot of energy into their set. A behind the scene moment from AFI that was cool for the pit was that the drummer gave his sticks to a couple of their fans. Some more behind the scene moments from the show was Jessica Alba shouting out, “Flavor Flav!”, Rosario Dawson doing a little dance, LL Cool J getting pawed by a lot of females, Keanu Reeves trying to get water for the pit and Will Ferrell rubbing some guy’s bushy hair ever so gently.

The 2006 MTV Movie Awards was a great experience overall and has me excited to see how it turns out because they shot the show out of order. The 2006 MTV Movie Awards will air June 8th at 9:00 pm. See you there.

Thanks to Detrimental Storm for reminding me of one of the best Hip-Hop festivals to hit California, Rock The Bells. They are now on their fourth festival and it seems they are not losing steam. The lineup for this year looks to be amazing with performances by:
Mos Def
Talib Kweli
Redman
De La Soul
Aesop Rock
Living Legends
Del The Funky Homosapien
Immortal Technique
Murs 3:16
Self Scientific
Visionaries
Planet Asia
Hosted by Supernatural
Rock The Bells will begin on August 5th at the NOS Events Center (San Bernardino, CA) and end on August 6th at the Sleep Train Pavilion (at Concord). This will not be one to miss because in previous years at Rock The Bells they were the first to have the entire Wu-Tang perform onstage in over 10 years. Now with ODB’s death (R.I.P.) that incredible event can never happen again. So do not miss out like I did and countless others and buy your tickets now because the Ecliptic One himself will be present to share in the festivities.

Well I had a E3 itinerary all set and ready for the last day at E3 and the Nintendo Wii had to kill it. I was in line for 2 hours or more then once I got in I had to wait in line to play the games. I did not get out of the Nintendo room until 3:30 pm and E3 was over at 4:00 pm. On the good side though I am now anticipating the Wii because I had a great time with it. The controller is pretty cool and you get the hang of it pretty fast. Swinging your arms around with the controller feels natural. So back to my intinerary, the only things I got to was the Nintendo Wii of course, Square Enix Tickets to see their game footage and the EA 360 Degree Screen. Stay glued to this sight this weekend and next week as I update it with all the games and photos from E3 2006.

Ok, ok I finally have something to say about the PS3 that will be $500-600, it is worth it. The graphics on most games are insanely detailed. It will have Blu-Ray technology and HDMI High Definition connection (For the $600 version) to HD televisions. All the games at E3 have been on HD LCD TVs and the images jump off the screen on next-gen systems. For current systems it makes the games look choppy and pixelated so it will be hard to tell the true graphics. The PS3 gameplay for E3 demos feel like well polished games on the most part. I have still not played with my Wii yet but I bet you guys are dying to hear about it. I will try to get into the Nintendo Wii booth tomorrow. Next I will be posting games from day one at E3. In the post I will give the games my first impression, the controls and the interest level from other gamers at E3. Now back to the games…

Usually on my sight I try to highlight games, films, events and more that I find great or informative. Even in my about page/mission statement I say that I want to only give positive feedback on the items or stories that I post. At E3 I want to talk about all the games that I play some good, some bad and some that make you wonder how did they get funding for that. That’s right folks for this event I will bring you E3 uncut and raw. I will give you my honest feedback on all demos I play and that means the dark side of me will draw its head. So sit back and relax and discover new games at E3. Come to the dark side…

Gallery Nineteen Eighty Eight will be host of the second annual I AM 8-BIT nicely dubbed, verison 2.006. I AM 8-BIT: version 2.006 is an art show that lets over hundred artists give their interpretation of 1980′s video games through different media. It varies from canvas to t-shirts to cloth and last year there was even a Pac-Man grenade. Now if you can imagine that then you will enjoy this pixel parade of people’s perception. The show begins April 18th and will run until May 19th, 2006. More information can be found at iam8bit.net and nineteeneightyeight.com and to wet your appetite as what is in store here is a wallpaper from iam8bit.net. Is that who I think that is?

You do know the name of this sight, the logo and it only happens once or twice a year, right? Well for the non-cynical types, Nasa has put up a sight called Sun-Earth Day 2006. Here is a eclipse fact from NASA: “From the Earth’s surface, the Sun’s corona (“crown”) can ONLY be seen during a total eclipse.” Wow, fine it is only interesting to me. Nasa did say corona so drink, drink.

Day 3: Today I was on a mission because there was so much I still had not seen and played and this was the last day! This was the first time in my life I wish I had a PDA because in my mind I had a long list of what I wanted to do. My first priority was to see the PS3 and I thought it would be better to go to it immediately because of the long line from the day before. Wrong, other people had the same idea and I was still buried in the back, so out comes the PSP. Again other people had the same idea and pull theirs out. Don’t know why we didn’t have huge wi-fi battles but I think we all were more concerned with our position in line. Finally the doors open and I am in a dark room with some plasma televisions on the wall talking about how the PS3 will take gaming and entertainment to the next level. Just then another set of doors open up and we are in a darker theater room with a large screen. The video demo starts and they show how the cell processor will make it easier for developers to make more realistic elements and environments. The demonstration had one ducky in a bathtub being rained on by a barrage of duckys. Next up was a city environment with people walking around with people looking and acting unlike anything I have ever seen on a console or pc. From there it goes into a war scene with soldiers on a modern terrain with hi-tech weapons. Every single preview just kept building up my excitement for this console and it’s potential. The excitement contributed to another outburst of guys turning into raving schoolgirls with anticipation. The doors open and their in a shiny display are three PS3s with different colors from white, silver to black. With the futuristic looking controller now being called the “Boomerang” by some gamers. I had no time to sit there and take it in, so I walked to the next room to get a ticket for the Square Enix movie. I got a ticket for a later showing so I had time to go wait in line for the New Legend of Zelda game. The line was huge as expected so again out comes my PSP. In this line I actually spotted some Nintendo DSes but the Sony PSP was still there because at that time it had just came out. But to be honest I did not see that many playing the PSP probably due us being in a Nintendo line. Of course I was a rebel and had my Ridge Racer out for the world to see. So the line moves and I am still not even half way there so I get back to my game. All of a sudden a lady says excuse me and I look up and standing there is a lady with an official looking Nintendo shirt. Here we go I think to myself, because I thought the Nintendo employee would ask me to put my PSP away or some other type of drama. Instead she asks me a simple question, “What would it take for you to put that away?” pointing to my PSP. So a simple answer pops in my hand and I say, “It would take getting to the front of this long line”. She says okay and I follow her to the front of the line. So with a smile and handshake I am in to play Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (thanks to my PSP) way faster than I would have imagined. The first part of Zelda that I played was getting Link on to a horse and fighting monsters on horseback. The graphics were beautiful and rich to be running on a Gamecube. The next room featured a mechanical wolf with a sinister looking moon that gave way to a video demo of Zelda. The next level available to play was Link fighting a spider type creature. The mix of story and adventures drew me into the game and seeing a mature Link in full 3D was mind-blowing. With no time to waste I dart to the Square Enix show with ticket in hand to wait in a line with a ton of RPG fanatics. The previews shown were all beautiful but the one I was personally there for was Advent Children because at the time I was lead to believe it was a PSP movie exclusive. Cloud is shown with Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within graphics bouncing on screen with his huge sword in hand. I still can’t wait for this one, which has since release in Japan. The last thing for me to do was to play the Xbox 360 and take in as much as I could since it would be and has been released this year. The games that I played for the Xbox 360 was Full Auto, Condemned: Criminal Origins and Need for Speed: Most Wanted. The most impressive game of all three at that time was Need for Speed because of the graphics, game play and speed of the game. Condemned did not interest me because I was not into FPS at the time and with a controller it did not make me walk away a fan. Full Auto compared to Need for Speed could not hold up and the demo was running so slow that the weapons and driving did not make it that memorable. The Xbox 360 did not make me feel like it was next generation in my opinion like the PS3 video demonstration even though I had no game play with the PS3. This was my final day at E3 and even now I can close my eyes and still feel the sensation of the event. It had a huge impact on me and I will try to attend every year if I can.

Day 2: Walking towards the convention to E3, Atari had their logo Matrixized with the then unreleased Matrix Online. That was cool but while I am looking up at Matrixed Atari logo out of the corner of my eye I see people falling from the sky. What is going on here I think to myself and see that it is the army doing a demonstration for the American Army games. This is day two for me so I take time to stop and pick up some swag and magazines in the entrance. On day one I just wanted to get inside and see the games and it was everything I expected and more. I picked up the official E3 magazine that details the events of the day. I flip a couple of pages and come to a map of the convention. Don’t laugh because this was my first time but there were more rooms and sections that I did not know existed. On day one I thought it was odd because I didn’t see the official Nintendo or Sony booths and just thought maybe they were not there because there next-gen systems were not ready. I completely overlooked the first room and directly headed to these new found areas. I went to the Sony’s booths first, wait before I continue I have to explain when I say booths I don’t mean like a hot dog like stand. Their booth likeness is closer to small communities with mascots, outrageous displays and games all over. Sony had a strong showing with tons of demos for the PS2 and for my new shiny PSP, all the upcoming games that I am now feeding it. The line for the PS3 was insane with people wrapping around the whole building. I had to pass on that for now to see Nintendo’s showing. Before I say anything good I was disappointed that they were not showing the Revolution to the regular E3 attendants and only to the press. Maybe this is why I was not impressed with their setup. They had the Gameboy Micros on display and for playing, if I remember right but all I could think was why would people buy that with the DS and PSP out(guess I was right on that prediction). Nintendo’s only saving point for me was the new Legend of Zelda game that was being shown. The line for this game was almost as long as the PS3 line and again I had to pass for more games. Day two finished up with me buying a hot dog wrapped in bacon and just taking in everything I had just seen.

Day 1: I walk in and my senses went into overload from all the lights, sounds and people. I can honestly say I have never been to any event quite like this. E3 goes all out, with displays, statues and booths with your favorite video game characters and trailers towering over you. The first one I see is a huge Mickey Mouse in a black suit holding a weapon. If I had no sense of dignity I would have ran up to it screaming like a little school girl but I played it cool and walked up to the kiosk to see people playing Kingdom Hearts II. This is my favorite RPG hands down besides Mushashi for the Playstation I and I have been waiting so long for a sequel. Next up was the Sega’s booth with too many games to mention. Then I stumbled upon the Square Enix’s booths and tried to get into the preview movie but all the tickets were gone. I stopped by the PC section to see games like Starship Troopers and Terra Firma from an independent publisher that has a game that allows the player to switch between third and first person shooter action. At this time I was not into PC games like I am now so I missed a lot of current and future titles. EA being the biggest company in the game market made sure you felt their presence at E3. EA’s setup lets you walk into this large circular room with games like Need for Speed for the Xbox 360 but that was not why everyone was there. Looking directly up you see that the upper wall is a huge 360 screen. The presentation (if I remember correctly) starts with a familiar song from the Godfather followed by a couple of scenes from the game making you crave more and they deliver with the next big game the Sims 2. The Sims 2 had different scenes happening on the circular screen so you had to turn around to see the different scenarios. Just as that finishes a car burns rubber and a cop car with sirens a blazing chase it to introduce Need for Speed: Most Wanted. The sound was incredible in this room; it almost drowned out the sound from the convention. The next huge game that demonstrated the sound system the most was Fight Night because they have two guys sparring in a ring. You can hear every punch with the occasional nearby gamer saying, “Oh no!” Believe me, it was that realistically looking and for the grand finale one of the boxers throw the finishing punch and his opponent’s face ripples from the punch but at the same time the floor shakes as if you were the one getting hit. Remember my school girl reference earlier well there were people who had no hang ups and let out there screams and dances. I even broken my calm demeanor and had to applause for that presentation. This wrapped up day one for me. I made a mental note of where to resume on day two.

Maybe a lot of people have already seen this video or heard this song from Mos Def called Katrina Klap. It was released after Katrina crashed in and devastated so many lives. I just wanted to bring this to the light again and let people know that funds are still needed for the rebuilding of Katrina struck areas. Mos Def’s politically charged video is ideal to remind us of the tragedy and the events that followed. The video and MP3 can be downloaded and streamed at PressTheIssue.org and has different places to donate for the Katrina Relief. Please donate even if it is only a dollar or more.

My E3 experience could not be summoned up in one word. It would probably fill up three thousand pages if I wrote out every little detail of days at the big event. To give you a picture of my mindset and excitement going into E3, I will have to give you a little bit of my video gamer background. I will also tell you how I got my pass into the show, some of the companies that were there and the video I shot.

I don’t think my mom even knows this but I will have to credit her with my first gaming experience. My mom would bring home her computer from work probably a Commodore, I don’t remember but the games were addicting. My first video game system was an Atari 2600 with a lot of great games like Commando and Pacman and one of the weirdest, nonsensical games ever invented: E.T. Wait that is getting a little negative lets turn it around. He was green if you had a color television back then that is positive, right! More quarters dropped in arcades than I could count back then. Fast forward to present day and a growing video game addiction and we come to my very first experience at E3.

Again special thanks to Clark Steel at Gamerave.com for the pass. When I received the pass I immediately got all three days off from both my jobs because I wanted to get the full experience. Next I had to get the requirements for E3 so I used my first job because they actually used to attend before I started working there. They would go for educational games but stopped for lack of educational games offered at the show. So I go to register a day before the event and had all the credentials from my company. I asked the lady at the desk if I had to use my company’s name or if I could use my website company. She said it would be fine to use the website name. So on my new shiny badge it said Tobias Henry, Game Consultant/Reviewer, EclipticSight.com. With my badge in had I was ready for the next day. Let me tell you I could not even sleep that night thinking of all the games I was going to see and play.

I picked the perfect time to attend E3 2005 because the next-gen consoles were going to be shown with the exception of the Nintendo Revolution. That was a big disappointment on their part. All the big players in the video game and computer industry were there from Sony, Microsoft, EA, Nintendo and a host of small and independent developers that I didn’t even know about.

I made sure to have my MiniDV camera in hand to record the event but later after reviewing the film, I found out most of it was pixelated with garbage on the screen and could not use it. I also took my PSP to E3 hoping to get demos or something but no luck. I do have a good story about my PSP and Nintendo for later. I got the capture below from the now retired MiniDV with my swag in all its greatness.

First, I have to thank Clark Steel at Gamerave.com(seems the sight has not been updated for awhile) for giving me the tickets to go to E3. None of this would have been possible without him and his Sony PSP blog site. He actually gave me the ticket for free because he had guess passes and I meet the E3 requirements. I didn’t have to pay him or do some crazy contest he was just being a cool guy with out any hidden agenda in return. Had the time of my life at E3, check out the reviews to see why.
