If you remember auto reverse then you had a cassette collection of hip-hop that you lost once you went digital. Fast forward and now we have another F.A.T. update from our favorite internet neighbor, Future Ape Tapes to add to our digital collection. While us mortal humans toil away at our daily lives, Future Ape Tapes have begun to build “Temples”. Their “Temples” consists of musical sound waves that will crash against your ear lobes. If you have not gotten it yet “Temples” is the brand new album from F.A.T. The first song on the album titled, “Mirror Images” just made me keep hitting repeat. On their Bandcamp site you can “Name Your Price” for their new album which includes a video of their first single, “GameGirl”. Also you can check out their other releases which I own and also highly recommend.

Temples, as an album is about stumbling onto something that is thriving now but could be lost forever in the future.

It is here a new year and time to take the music out of the crates…uh I mean hard drive and see what I played in 2009. I didn’t want to make the typical top 5, 100 or whatever number you want to throw in there. This is the music in 2009 that I consumed and enjoyed without having to put one album over another. Maybe there is something on this list that you missed and can pick up for 2010.

Here are the songs or albums that I have bought or downloaded (legally) that will be infused into my brain for November through December. A lot of music for these two months and December is not even over yet.

At the time it seem that the Fugees came out of nowhere with a sound that was unique to the group.

Breez Evahflowin’ – Breez Deez Treez
Why did I wait so long to pick this up. Breez says it best, “I Failed”.

Kanye West – The College Dropout

Cunninlynguists gives the second installment on their strange journey and I can’t wait for the next ride.

Madlib – Beat Konducta Vol. 3 & 4 In India
Madlib dives into the Indian music vault to mesmerize us with his beat smith abilities.

We all know who this is a tribute to and Madlib definitely made the best one.

Killah Priest – Elizabeth (Introduction To The Psychic)
Killah Priest continues to put out quality music and this is one step closer for me to completing his catalog of music.

The most unexpected matching of two of my favorite emcees that has become one of my favorite albums.

Proof rhymes with B-Real and Method Man and holds his own which is not a small feat with those two.

Pitch Black – Pitch Black Law
DJ Premier blessed them with their lead single so I always wanted the whole album.

Slum Village – Prequel To A Classic
The Villa still can make hits with J Dilla blessing them with a couple beats on this but B.R. Gunna doesn’t disappoint at all either.

Kos – Yes!
After one listen of “I Wish I Knew Natalie Portman” I knew that I had the hear the rest of the album.

Oh No – Dr. No’s Ethiopium
Madlib took a trip to India while Oh No took a trip to Ethiopia crafting an incredible music journey for everyone to enjoy.

Oh No – Dr. No’s Oxperiment
Oh No’s first venture into an all out instrumental album and he knocks it ox, oh no I mean, out the park.

Jay Electronica – Exhibit A (Transformations)
No excuse on this one.

Finally got around to rebuying Killarmy – Dirty Weaponry after my CD was scratched up beyond recognition from being played too much. This is the first song off the album and it still gave me that same electrified feeling as if I was hearing it for the first time again.
